Dear Burkelers,

I hope everyone is safely quarantined. In any case, you're probably bored,
so I've got something to distract you. In 2012 I was asked by the folks who
publish *Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism*, a series that republishes
important essays on particular authors, to provide a list of essays for
inclusion in their entry on Burke. At that time I asked this group for
input and you came through beautifully. The final entry was about 130 pages
long--a useful resource for Burke scholars. (It's in volume 286 from 2013.)
Now they want me to repeat the process to include different or newer
essays. So, once again, I need your input on this. Generally, the
selections should be related to literary criticism, but I have considered
that broadly as including rhetorical criticism. (I have made an effort to
include any important essays that deal centrally with literary criticism in
a traditional sense.)

Attached is a PDF of an Excel sheet that lists three categories of essays:
Those that I suggested last time (in yellow) that were not included in
2013. Those that were published in 2013 (in gray). And the rest are
uncolored but available for inclusion. And this uncolored list doesn't
include everything that might be in the mix (though they do appear to have
stuff as late as 2018). For example, they list ONLY 2 essays from *KB
Journal! *They also list whole books, which we cannot reprint, though we
could reprint book chapters or introductions.

So, if you have time and interest, could you make suggestions? Feel free to
self-promote if you have an important essay. (I was shameless enough to
include my "Coming to Terms with Kenneth Burke's Pentad" in the last
volume--it only took up 3 pages, so I didn't feel too badly. The most
widely read thing I ever wrote, finished in a few weeks, while only a
hundred or so (I'm guessing) have read my 5-year labor of love Bush v. Gore
book!)

I have a deadline of a couple of months, so I wanted to get this started.

Cheers,

Clarke
